4's Orientation and the turnpike

Seamus had his orientation for his second year of preschool today. It was just he and Grandma. Grandma's report "this kid is an old pro at preschool!"  Seamus's report "it was only a short day today. Will the truck on fire be on the news?"  Lol he heard on the radio this morning that there was a truck fire on the turnpike and now he is concerned that we won't be able to get to our cousins' house! When you are worried about that, it is no wonder school wasn't all that exciting!

WE GOT AN EGG!!!!

Finally, after 5 months with the hens we finally got an egg yesterday.  Katie went to the barn to check on feed and water.  She called me to say I needed to bring Seamus over STAT.  Thankfully, there were two adults so we could capture his reaction of finding the first egg.  Somehow, he even carried it home and didn't break it!! And that was with dropping it several times!

Fair Parade

This video just shows his pure joy and excitement for the parade and the fair.

The Fair

A bunch of photos from fair week.
Cloverbuddy judging. He made his poster on his chickens but mainly told the judge about his mean rooster, Mr. Friday.
Parade time with Sophie and Bella, two of our other cloverbuddies.
His painting if trees got second place!
Riding the merry go round with Kailee.
The first of many corn dogs for the week.
Riding a pony like he has been doing it his whole life.
Barn duty, cleaning the aisles.
Helping Addie feed the pigs.
Being a good ball at one of the horse shows.
One of the ribbons his hens received and his cloverbuddy trophy. Not sure about the pose, but he did it for every picture that day!

Chickens

Seamus loves his chickens. Here are a few photos of him visiting with the ladies.

This is one of the three feather heads. They are his absolute favorites because they let you pet them.
This is Nubs. He survived an attack from a raccoon or something but lost a toe in the massacre. He is one of the meat chickens.

Water Fun with Carson!!

Today, the boys and I made a giant water "bed" in the back yard. They ha so much fun with it. And it didn't break!! This little craft brought about three hours of backyard fun in the shade. They had already spent about an hour in the driveway riding their bikes through the sprinkler yelling "Sheetz car wash!!"

Gymnastics!!

Amanda has talked about how much her kids enjoy gymnastics and Seamus loves to tumble and do "cartwheels", we decided to enroll him in a summer session. I am not too impressed with the one teacher so far but Seamus says they are both nice. He really enjoyed the first class and told me "I got really tired in there and the bars (uneven) are scary but I still did them!" He's ready to go back next week.
Teacher in top picture, not so good with the kids. Teacher in bottom picture, pretty good with the kids. I'm thinking both are college age and might just be "stuck" with this class.

Tball Ceremony

Seamus got his team photo and trophy for tball last Saturday. He was pretty proud of the trophy. I LOVE his photo!!! (Sorry, it's a picture of a picture)
He really was excited for the trophy, there were just too many eyes on him during the ceremony.

Running partner

My usual running buddies weren't able to join me tonight. But after the rain and humidity left the neighborhood, I had to get out there. Seamus decided to join me. That maniac did 1.56 miles only stopping when a car came or when TJ had to pee. What an athlete....I think the sweatband helped!

Boys and spray parks

Almost every little boy did this at the spray park today.  Boys.

More farming

We moved all of the kids' 4-H chickens to the barn yesterday. Carson and Seamus were hard at work being chicken farmers. They decided that the picnic table needed some work done to it. Seamus measured it with the tape measure and Carson hammered in any nails sticking out. They make a good team!

They also headed out to the feed mill with Katie and I. This picture shows just how much fun these two have together pretty much all of the time.

A day at Uncle Fattty's

There is no better place for a boy to be a boy than at Jason's property. Fishing, hiking, swimming and boating all in one place. After helping set up for the 4th of July party the kids got to play....including Brad.

First trip to the dentist

Here are photos from Seamus's first trip to the dentist. He did an awesome job!!

Clean teeth!!

Great Lakes Science Center

We visited the Great Lakes Science Center with the Davis's and Stenberg's today (minus Matthew). Seamus really enjoyed the spaceship he could climb in and Katie is now trying to convince her parents that she needs a ball pit at home!

GOTL

We went to Geneva on the Lake for the first time this summer......on the last day of June!! What a great way to spend a lazy Sunday evening though. Seamus and Uncle Ryan had fun challenging each other at putt putt. And then we all got to enjoy some Eddie's Grill and Dairy Quenn.

Maddie's birthday

The Davis's made it in from Atlanta!! We started off our week with them celebrating Madeline's 4th birthday. The kids had fun playing but their absolute best part was the ICE CREAM CAKE!!

Waiting for our friends from ATL

Katie and Seamus got to play at the mall together until our friends got in from Atlanta. Katie was pretty excited to see Seamus until she saw the cow in the play area!

Dexter sitting......and a few chicks

The Shaffer's have gone on vacation so we are in charge of the baby chicks that are going to fair in a few months. Seamus is VERY excited for this because he is a chicken farmer!
We are also in charge of their dog, Dexter, now because he couldn't quite handle it at 'summer camp'. He and TJ have been hanging out a lot but TJ can't figure out why dexter won't just lay down and take a nap!! Did I mention Dexter is only 2?? Nothing like putting together a far old dog with a young hyper one!

New Bed!!

Seamus switched to a twin bed and picked out his own bedding. There are angry birds on top and Star Wars sheets underneath. I'm not even sure he know what Star Wars is but that's what he picked.

2013 Stampede 5k

Brad and Seamus participated in the 5k that I host with the Ladies Auxiliary. Seamus did a 1/4 mile without stopping with a time of 6 minutes. Brad did a GREAT job finishing his 5k in 26:42!! His personal best.

Mr. Friday

This is Mr. Friday. Seamus loves him. Out of all the chickens, he has decided the mean old rooster is going to be his friend. He has fallen in live with one of the hens also, he named her Spot. Hopefully we will be posting pics of Seamus collecting eggs soon!

Race Track

Amanda, this one is for you. On a rainy day, make a giant race track on the floor with masking tape. Super cheap but it will amaze the kids. You can even tape up the couch and it won't ruin the fabric.

Game ball

Due to his great participation and hard work, Seamus received the game ball at tonight's tball game!

Last day of preschool

They are in reverse order, but these are photos from Seamus's last day of preschool. He is a very serious child during any type of presentation like this.
